Server migration mishap

17-5-2012

Community, we'll try to keep it short and simple: we need your help. Without delving into specifics, here’s what you must know. The hosting service we were using to keep both the website and game up was on its last days. We came into contact with the company and began trying to find a new provider in the meantime. However, something went awry once we attempted to migrate towards the new servers, and a lot of files became corrupted. Whether it be the state of the machines or malfunctioning drives, we do not know. We have been sifting through files and files to attempt to remedy this issue, but some files will simply refuse to open. Therefore, we urge you all to the following:

If you have backup files of your images, music, pages, and/or worlds, please send them through this link.

Even if you do not have the original file, any recording or recounting of your projects, a friend’s, or simply a person whose uploads you liked a lot will also serve our purpose. We cannot stress how terribly sorry we are for all of this, and we will be working to take in all your files. We have personally e-mailed several of you about this issue, so hopefully it will reach you as well.

As some consolation, we want to address some of the more recent behaviors the StoChaStick website is having. If you cannot access a page, it does not mean that it has been lost. Some of our files have simply been renamed, other code has slightly been altered, and a lot of requests through the servers keep throttling and many others simply won’t go through. We’re working on organizing all of these files, but the process might be slow as we take on the aforementioned requests. This behavior is extended towards the desktop application. The most common issue you will be running into is being unable to see other players. This is a minor concern and we’ll be working on a fix sooner than later, hopefully.

Once again, our most sincere apologies and we hope that we can recover as many files as possible.
